Petition: Improve lighting in the City of Sydney

Although current lighting in Joynton Park meets City code, we can see once the sun goes down the lighting is patchy leaving large areas of the park unlit.  This issue is seen not only at Joynton Park but across the City of Sydney with patchy lighting in many of our parks and public spaces.

This causes danger for local residents, with instances of people falling and being injured while walking in park in the evenings. This is not ok with the Zetland and Green Square population expected to grow exponentially we need to make sure this area is safe and liveable for our expanding community. That’s why we’re calling for improved lighting in Joynton Park and across the City of Sydney.

Petitioners request that the City of Sydney upgrade lighting off the paths at Joynton Park and review the City’s current lighting code to ensure that it provides for a safe community for all
